Anambra Catholic priest resigns to embrace traditional religion A former Catholic priest of 17 years, Dr. Echezona Obiagbaosogu, said his resignation from the priesthood to embrace African traditional religion. Obiagbaosogu, a lecturer in African Traditional Religion at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, revealed this following the recent defense of his PhD dissertation titled ‘Rainmaking and Control in Igbo African Medicine: A Case Study of Isieke in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. He emphasized that Africa is rich in resources and cultural values, many of which were eroded during the colonial period. Atiku, LP, activist condemn threat against Obi

  More  reactions have trailed the alleged threat issued to Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, by Mr. Felix Morka, spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in spite of his rebuttal. On Monday, Obi had raised the alarm that he was being threatened for repeatedly criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Obi, in his New Year message to Nigerians, had criticised Tinubu and expressed concerns over “institutional corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and an escalating debt profile.” He noted that “corruption has been deeply entrenched in government” while “nepotism has become the norm on Tinubu’s watch. He also demanded vigorous, positive actions from the administration to bring succour to Nigerians.    Onyeka Onwenu Reportedly Dies After Performance In LagosPublished on 31 July 2024 at 3:05 AMBy Enioluwa Adeniyi Buhari Celebrates Onyeka Onwenu At 70 Tragedy struck on Tuesday night as Nigeria’s legendary singer and songwriter, Onyeka Onwenu, passed away shortly after performing at a birthday party in Lagos. The music icon, affectionately known as the ‘Elegant Stallion,’ reportedly collapsed at a private function and was later pronounced dead at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos. Sources close to the family confirmed the shocking news . Onwenu was attending the birthday celebration of Mrs Stella Okoli, founder of Emzor Pharmaceuticals when she took to the stage to perform. Eyewitnesses said she returned to her seat after her performance and suddenly slumped. Emergency services were immediately called, and she was rushed to the hospital, where she was later declared dead. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Tinubu Receives Ramaphosa And Seeks Stronger Ties Between Nigeria, South Africa

Two crane operators killed in Ukwa East Local Government in Abia State.

It is said to be a sorrowful moment in Ukwa West Local Government in Abia State. Ocheze Ogbonna, a female crane operator at Inner Galaxy Steel Company, Umuahala-Obuzor in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has been reputedly killed by a Chinese national who wanted to be in a relationship with her. According to the information gathered it was said the Chinese manager pushed her down for not accepting him to have a love advances with her.  However we gathered that their was another incident which happened in the same premises where Ocheze Ogbonna,was alleged killed and the young man named Promise kelechi was stabbed at the cheat but their was no information about the killing. Ganduje Secures Court Order to Halt Kano Probe Commissions

  A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has restrained the two probe commissions instituted by the Kano State Government to investigate the administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from exercising their functions. The court, presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda, granted an ex-parte motion stopping the Commissions from conducting any further proceedings pending the determination of the instant suit brought before it by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. In the order, which has the National Judicial Council, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Attorney-General of Kano State, Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu, and Justice Zuwaira Yusuf as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th respondents, the court restrained the 4th and 5th respondents from performing the functions assigned to them by the Kano Governor in courtrooms meant to adjudicate disputes between persons and authorities in Kano, pending the hearing and determination of the instant...
