Comedian Broda Shaggi Hospitalised After Alleged Shooting During Skit Filming
Popular Nigerian comedian, skit maker and social media influencer, Broda Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Perry, has reportedly been hospitalised after he was allegedly shot in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, EGSTARSHOWTV has learnt.
Sources revealed that the incident occurred under the Sango-Ota bridge on Sunday afternoon while the entertainer was filming a comedy skit.
Although the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the content creator sustained a gunshot injury during the filming process at the location.
When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development, noting that the police were alerted by the hospital where the comedian was taken.
According to her, the hospital informed the police about a gunshot victim who had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately deployed to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was the popular skit maker known as Broda Shaggi.
She stated that the entertainer was found on a stretcher with a gunshot injury to his thigh. However, she clarified that the incident reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota and not within the jurisdiction of the Lagos command, adding that investigations are ongoing.
When contacted for further clarification, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident had not been officially reported to the police in the state.
“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it has not been reported to us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Broda Shaggi’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, popularly known as Penzaar, did not respond to several calls placed to his phone. A text message sent to him had also not been replied to as of the time of filing this report.
EGSTARSHOWTV recalls that in October 2024, another popular content creator, Afeez Ojesanmi, popularly known as Salo, was reportedly robbed of his jewellery and shot around the Lekki axis of Lagos.
According to sources, Broda Shaggi was immediately rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial medical attention.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have full details of how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” a source disclosed.
The source added that medical personnel at the hospital administered first aid upon his arrival.
Further findings by EGSTARSHOWTV revealed that the comedian was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating.
Efforts to reach both hospitals for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls made to the contact numbers listed on their social media pages did not connect. Messages sent to them had also not received a response as of the time of filing this report.
