Army handed over Chiwetalu Agu to us —DSS Department of State Services says veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, was brought to its custody by the Nigerian Army. It added that justice would be served. DSS Spokesman, Dr Peter Afunaya, said this during a brief chat with our correspondent on Friday. Afunaya said, “Army brought him to us. Justice will take its course.”

Some MTN customers are currently experiencing service outage and are unable to connect with loved ones and business associates in parts of the  State , customers were unable to use the mobile network operator’s call, data and SMS services. “Emergency calls only” showed on the screens of MTN users our correspondent spoke with as of the time of filing this report at 04:30pm on Saturday. The users told our correspondent that they started experiencing the outage around 2:30pm on Saturday and they are not able to use the network still now 10:00pm. Some of the users, who also subscribed to other telecom service providers, have since switched over in the interim to link up with friends and family. Some MTN users have also gone on social media to lament their frustration.. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu revived Abia State Scholarship Board, and for the first time in the history of the state gave these young Abians the opportunity to further their education abroad. Chiwetalu was arrested because he was putting on Biafra regalia. Video

 The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has reacted to the arrest of veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu. Chiwetalu Agu was arrested by the Nigerian Army at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra state for putting on Biafra regalia. He was allegedly taken to 82 Division Enugu on Thursday. When contacted to react, Emeka Rollas condemned Chiweta Agu’s action, noting that he shouldn’t have worn Biafra regalia, considering the high rate of insecurity in the state. He said that the Guild is doing everything possible to ensure Chiwetalu Agu is released. “I don’t know why he put on Biafra regalia. The state is hot. We are in talks with the military officials to ensure he is released. I heard they have taken him to the 82 Division of the Nigeria Military base. We will do our best.''

  Zuckerberg loses nearly $7bn to Facebook outage. Facebook stock went down by about 5.5 per cent, while its Chief Executive Officer, Mark Zuckerberg, also lost nearly $7bn to the outage that plagued the social media platform on Monday. Also affected were WhatsApp and Instagram, both owned by the Silicon Valley, California-based tech company. In all, the global economy lost billions of dollars to the outage which took place at about 4.42pm Nigerian Time on Monday. According to NetBlocks, which tracks internet outages and their impact, the outage had already cost the global economy about $160m per hour. Facebook and its affiliates have 2.9 billion monthly active users. The shutdown is reminiscent of 2019, when Facebook shut down in its biggest outage till date (a 24-hour shut down).   Night travel now unsafe for motorists, commuters in Lokoja — FRSC The Kogi State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has warned against night travelling as it has become unsafe for motorists and commuters in and around the state. The command said that the warning is necessary especially now that most roads are in a deplorable state and insecurity is on the increase. The FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr Solomon Agure, made the assertions in a statement in Lokoja. Agure said that no good road experience could come out of speeding, overloading, use of phone while driving, use of mechanically deficient vehicles, or failure to use seatbelt and safety crash helmet. He said that the corps would be on the lookout to enforce strict compliance to safety laws and orders on the highways.
