Igbo Elders Protest in Umuahia, Urge Tinubu to Release Nnamdi Kanu
The Igbo Elders Forum on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest at the Government House gate in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, demanding the immediate release of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
During the protest, members of the Forum appealed to Governor Alex Otti to liaise with other South-East Governors in reaching out to President Bola Tinubu to secure Kanu’s release, describing him as “their son” whose freedom is vital for peace in the region.
Responding on behalf of the Abia State Government, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu, assured the protesters that their concerns and demands would be formally conveyed to Governor Otti.
