  Police arrest Bauchi woman for kidnapping newborn, killing two girls. Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Esther Gambo for the alleged theft of a child and murder. According to a press release issued on Thursday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, 19-year-old Esther from Lemoro Village in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, reportedly enticed two seven-year-old girls, Khadija Sama’ila and A’isha Dahiru, from Unguwan Sarkin Yaki Village. He explained that upon receipt of the report, a team of police officers, collaborating with local vigilante groups, promptly responded. The PPRO noted that in the aftermath of the incident, public unrest ensued, predominantly among the local Muslim youth, resulting in violent protests, including the arson of churches and attempts to set fire to the Tulu Divisional Police Headquarters.

 NDLEA Officer Murdered in Ondo: Four Suspects Arrested The Ondo State Police Command on Thursday said it had arrested four persons in connection with the killing of an officer of the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, simply identified as Jide. Jide was reportedly killed by some persons suspected to be drug dealers at the Itanla area of Ondo town on Tuesday during a raid on a building where drugs were allegedly being kept by operatives of the anti-drug agency. The police command, in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, said apart from the arrest of the suspects, some arms were also recovered by the men of the command.   Tinubu approves full allowances, bonuses for Super Falcons ahead of WAFCON final. President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons, ahead of their final match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, made the announcement while speaking with reporters in Abuja on Thursday. He also confirmed that all entitlements, up to and including the final on July 26, had been disbursed for immediate payment to players, coaches, and officials. Dikko described the gesture as “policy in motion” and a demonstration of a renewed commitment to Nigerian athletes under Tinubu’s leadership. He assured that this would now be the standard practice going forward, timely payments without drama or delays.
