Methodist Archbishop of Aba Diocese Warns Nigeria Risks Losing Educational Value Amid Rising Insecurity

The Methodist Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Wesley Cathedral Circuit, Diocese of Aba, Most Rev. Godfrey Agupusi, has described the high level of insecurity been experienced in the country as a result of the lack of proper education, stating that the nation is at the verge of losing her educational value.

Agupusi who decried the decline in the standard of education currently from what it used to be then, noted that what both parents and students are after is the certificate. He equally blamed parents for aiding and abetting their children in the area of examination malpractice, calling it a disgrace and failure in parenting.

Most. Rev. Agupusi disclosed this to Journalists during a press conference to mark the silver jubilee celebration of the Methodist High School, Aba, describing the institutions existence as a beacon of hope.

He lamented the situation of the nation where those who are supposed to be educated are not given the opportunity to lead, while those who lead are either uneducated or partially educated.

He called on both arms of Government to as a matter of urgency return missionary schools back to the church, as this will help curb the decay in our nations education especially in the area of examination malpractice.
